Izumi-Sano
The open-air hot-spring bath at Fudoguchikan is available 24 hours, and separate per gender. The ryokan also houses a lounge, a shop and drinks vending machines. A variety of yukata robes are available for rent, and free parking is on site. This hotel includes an extensive dinner of many small courses in a private dining room. We were delighted with the extensive and beautiful offerings. We loved the cozy tatami room overlooking the flowing river. While we were out at dinner, our room was magically turned into a warm futons so we could sleep with the sound of the water. The onsen was lovely, with a cooler indoor soaking pool and a downstairs hotter outdoor pool (separated by gender). In the morning, we enjoyed an elaborate Japanese breakfast in a common breakfast room, but well separated from the other guests and beautifully attended by the attentive staff. More than anything, we appreciated how much they went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Two of the three members of our party were not Japanese speaking, but everyone was friendly and helpful. They clearly took the time to translate our menu into English so we could enjoy each course. Truly over and above. Want an uniquely Japanese experience that takes you away from the touristy city centres? This is the place to go.

We only spent one night here, but it was enough to see that the place is great! It was easy to find it and to check in, as we were arriving pretty late and had to do the self-check in. Everything provided in the room certainly improved our short stay. The beds were comfortable, and we didn’t experience any discomfort at all.

The traditional room with tatami and futons was spacious and there were plenty of extra blankets, and a low table with cushions. The kitchen was well equipped with a big fridge, and a cooktop, great if you want to cook something during your stay. The breakfast was really good.
Location is fantastic, just minutes away from Dotonburi, and the actual ryokan is very clean, has many amenities as well as an authentic Japanese experience for the cost. They also provide Yukatas, and have your futon set up for you which is a big plus.
Great value for the money based on the large set of amenities and the complementary Onsen. Innovative concept that includes elements of Ryokan in a modern hotel. Great access to the city center in the near proximity to all attractions, Subway and Keihan Line.
11 course menu (Kaiseki) was outstanding, just like the rest of the meals. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. Received personal advice on what to see in the area. Very quiet, despite train station in close proximity. Hot spring (onsen) can be used almost all day and night. Beautiful traditional Japanese rooms. Would love to stay again.
The hot spring onsen was a bonus. We needed an interconnecting room. The hotel is right outside a metro entrance. Relatively easy to get Osaka Castle, Aquarium and Dotonbori.
Having stayed in some very small hotel rooms, with barely space to move around the room, the tatami room was a lovely space which meant we could sit down and have breakfast or a snack around the table, and the kids found the futon beds really comfy. The hotel is in a fairly quiet part of the city but with cafes and a convenience store nearby, it as well as subway stations making it easy to get around.
Hotel with fantastic amenity and facilities (public onsen, coin op room of washers and dryers, vending machines, day spa and the best 24 hr in hotel convenience store where you could buy mini meals, snacks, drinks, alcohol and all very affordable). Very comfortable beds, and great in bath showers with slippers, yukatas and robes and ofcourse the many cool amenities the Japanese thoughtfully provide.
Of course the onsen, but also the breakfast room, which looked very friendly and open. The breakfast itself was very good as well, especially nice as it was a traditional breakfast - as well as traditionally served. The room was nice, but of course traditionally small as a Japanese room with futons. We got exactly what we expected as a "typical Japan experience"
Absolutely lovely stay in an authentic ryokan. The welcome treats, yukata (bathrobe), and bath slippers provided were sweet, homey touches. The in-house onsen was a great way to end a long day and unwind.
